so i have a 2000 v6 accord it should be the j30a engine and i've heard that its missing a stage in VTEC?? just wondering here.. don't make fun of me....

 

missing a stage? nope its only got one stage. its goes from off to on. when you feel it go from sluggish to ripp at around 3500 thats vtec. if you put a intake on there that stage will turn into a defaning roar. its pretty mean. i dusted a cts the other day in my gf 3.0cl neck and neck till about 90 and then pulled away big time. i think he definately underestimated, but when that note slapped up against the side of his car he got put on notice.

 

so lightshow means it has 2 stages ^_-

 

technically it is missing the 2nd stage of the 3 stage system. Once you see the the torque curve as evidenced here

stage 1 allows only 1 intake valve to open
stage 2 is missing
stage 3 allows both valves to open

I find it odd it would be like that because all the for cyl's have it so 2 seperate lobes open both valves and the vtec lobe just opens both larger then the other two, unless there just isnt enough room on the cam for all the intake and exaust lobes
