Default MSD Ignition?

I've seen many people have an MSD ignition in their car. What does this do? And how is it different from the factory exactly? Does it give extra hp or torque? If so, how much? Anyone know a price range or something? Thanks a lot.

Btw, I did a search on the forums for this, and found TedF23's thread on this. Marbro replied saying that if the car is stock it won't do anything, and if the car is old, you'll get a better throttle response. My car's a 1998, is that considered old that this MSD ignition will help? Also, my car has the engine upgrades listed in my sig, would that be close to stock? Thanks.

Not worth it unless your spraying or boosting.

a little bit older then the 6th gen cars

but basically you can get much out of enhancing your iginition system unless you plan on using more fuel, and of course the need for more fuel would be a turbo, doing higher compression, but to an extent some of that can be handled with updating the ecu and having better fuel management. Mind you i said to an extent. But either way something i wouldnt worry about unless you plan on doing more mods that take you past the 200+whp mark

I see. Would an H22 swap also call for a need in bigger fuel injectors?

I have Msd ignition and it gives you higher spark throughout your rpm range. Works great on turbo, non-turbo, it doesn't really matter what you put it on.

No because the H22 will probably come with fuel injectors incuded with the engine.
