Default Need help with 91 accord ex

I have a 91 accord e 4 cylinder fuel injected and recently it wont stay runninf for more and two mins. Starts just fine again after about 5 mins. I dropped the tank and the fuel pump is working but I dont hear the hum it used to make but still puts out fuel. Filter isn't clogged either.

Main Fuel Relay (MFR) can interupt fuel delivery and cause no start or stalling. When you turn keyswitch to On, you should hear fuel pump come on and run for 2-3 secs, and go off. If not suspect a MFR problem. This would cause a no-start condition.

Does engine abruptly quit running, or idle gets lower and lower until engine dies?

Is check engine light on? If yes, see DIY forum for guidance on extracting obd1 codes.

good luck

I hear the fuel pump sometimes and it just idles down and sputters out and dies. The check engine light is on and its code 46 which is running to rich or too lean. My gas gauge started acting up about a month before it start this crap.

Code 46 does not exist. Code 43 is fuel delivery problem, which usually indicates a problem w/ O2 sensor. Suggest inspecting O2 sensor, connector, and wiring for possible damage.

good luck

That was my plan today. But I would have to say that code has to exist because my local autozone and ol rillys has it. Though if it not that do u think the fuel pump might not be staying on at the right pressure

AZ & O'reillys only read OBD2 codes w/ a scanner. They can't help w/ obd1, but you can read your own obd1 codes.

Where did you obtain the code?

You can read obd1 codes by shorting service check connector (blue 2-wire connector may be plugged into plastic holder), and turning keyswitch to On. Codes will be flashed by Check Engine Light w/ Long Flashes (F) for 10's digit, short pause , short flashes for units. Code 43 would be FFFFfff. I did not find a code 43. Code/s sequence repeats after a long pause. Long pause separates multiple codes.

Note, single digit codes such as 4 and 6 would be flashed:
ffff-long pause-ffffff

It is easy for two separate codes such as 4 & 6 to be mistaken for one code 46.

good luck
