A leakdown test may tell you something.

leakdown test? hmm i'll look into that, thanks alot

i would think doing a compression test would tell you because if the rings are going out there would be a lower compression then should be

does car smoke kind of blueish smoke out of tailpipe ?? ( burn oil ) ,,, does it use oil ?? do you have to add oil and there are no leaks ?

like it was advised a compression test will do the trick.. do a dry and wet test

dry test is a normal test..

a wet test, put a bit of oil in the cylinder you are testing and record the readings, DO NOT put oil in all cylinders all at the same time. because when you crank it , oil will fly out ,, if compression reading come up considerably , you got worn rings

ok, my question, with worn rings does compression go down or up? i could understand it going both ways, but I havent had an issue with the rings going out yet, so im not all that sure.

The pressure would go down or show a lower compression figure than your other stronger cylinders.

Yeah, you would definetly have lower compression than the factory specifications with worn rings.

hehe, ok, thought so, i guess how desert said it threw me off a little...
