plugs and wires
1998 accord v6 ex. What is the best spark plugs and wires to use for gas miles and performace.

NGK plugs are consensus best performers.
New plugs will not significantly help gas mileage unless old plugs are very poor (missing). Plugs are Preventive Maintenance item. You don't wait till the fail to replace. OEM wires are also very good and will last almost indefinitely in my experience. I would measure lead resistances and check them before replacing. A good check is to spray a generous light water mist on the plug wires at night w/ low/no lights. Check for any engine missing or visible sparks. If you see or hear anything, replace them. good luck |

What TexasHonda and Shipo stated are true. When I was a lot younger, had more disposable income to just play with and like tinkering with my car, I tried different plugs and many different wires (not just one aftermarket brand). Did they really make any difference? No. More psychological than anything else.
The NGK or Denso plugs (depending on the year, Honda use one or both brands) and the OEM wires are some of the best for your car. |
ok thanks guys. the car has ngk "r" it it right now. I think that is for a stock replacement plug so there fine. On the wires ok.

Were the OEM plugs copper or platinum?
