Default Power Steering and Thermostat

I have a 1994 Honda Accord Coupe LX with the stock f22b sohc and I've got two quick questions about the power steering pump and the thermostat. First, a colder running engine usually performs better, so does this suggest that if I customize my thermostat to be freeflowing (wide open)during the summer, that it will run like it does in the winter? Also, (and this is going to sound kinda dumb, but I was curious) if the power steering is removed will there be any horsepower gain and what are the consequences (other than the lack of power steering)? Thanks alot and good luck!

Default RE: Power Steering and Thermostat

Just read another post concerning the power steering issue, so that question has been answered. So now this question only pertains to the thermostat.
