I guess I didn't realize there were real shorties for 5th gens. That forbidden one is $70 cheaper than PSPEC! Boo! Why can'tforbidden make one for 6th gens? After hearing all the hype about PSPEC from the guys over on 6GA.com, I am seriously thinking about blowing $200 on a PSPEC. My stock shifter just feels cheap to me. Plus sometimes I miss 4th and I feel like a total n00b[:@]

You got some stuff to figure out before you saw off the shift lever in an automatic. The latch mechanism #9, 10, 11, 12 & the pushrod that livesdown inside the hollow shift lever.

How is that even possible? It's straight back! Sometimes I miss 5th and accidentally go into 3rd. The short shift adapter+ shortened shifter makes 4th to 5th completely a diagonal move instead of up-over-up.

I put on an RSX know (aluminum) and it really gives a more solid and precise feel to the stock shifter assembly. Boo plastic! Since I'm cheap and don't need adjustability I'm going to suggest my way, but of course do what you want.

Caution for metal *****: Hot in the summer, ice cold in the winter.
This is very true. I have the same style but it's so worth it, i think it looks dope as hell. Mine has black engraving and looks stock. Put a windshield visor up when you leave the car to keep the sun off so the **** doesnt get so hot. Missing 4th eh noobie? Haha jk, Ive done 2nd instead of 4th once or twice. I always fix it though before I fully let go of the clutch.

Yeah I always do too, but that doesn't stop me from jacking the rpm's up to 5k and sounding like a retard when it finally goes into gear after a long lag. haha. I guess the way I shift I give it gas a split second before letting the clutch out. Mine doesn't grind or anything though when I miss it. It almost feels like it bounces off of something like I stuck the lever between gears. I'm always like "Dangit! POS!" haha.
Sometimes it grinds if I try to shift fastinto second too, which is annoying, but I think that is becauseeither:
a) I'm not pressing the clutch in quite far enough before I throw it into 2nd, or
b) I need to change my manual tranny fluid (I haven't done that since I've owned the car for 30k miles). I need to do that soon, but I've been too lazy. I guess I'll use either redline MTF or Honda MTF when I finally get around to it.

oooh Honda MTF makes shifts like cutting through warm butter! I tend to grind 5th a lot because by the time I get to shifting into 5th I'm too lazy to operate the clutch normally. I also tend to look like I'm headbanging in the mosh pit to some speed metal song when I'm trying to get that damn Kevlar clutch into 1st lol.
