uhm so my car was squealing everytime i started it, i got upset went to autozone and i found a "brake disc" spray that said on it "stop high squealing bla bla" i was like sweet, sprayed it onto this belt thingy, and turns out i sprayed it onto my alternator drivebelt. is this a bad thing cuz like i was spraying it directly onto that belt... the squealing stopped, but i dunno if i did a bad thing..

If it said it was for brakes, it was for brakes. Not your belts. Go get a can of belt grease or spray. It should say it right on the bottle. Next time ask the people at the counter for help.

Oy! I'm surprised it hasn't eaten through the belt yet! Bra-kleen is potent stuff!

It will probably shorten the life of your belts substantially.

If I am not mistaken, brake cleaner will take all the moisture out of the belt causing it to dry, harden, and increase the chance of cracking/snapping.

What uh made you decide to us brake cleaner instead of a belt quieter spray?

I had some stuff for brakes, it was pretty much like silver spray paint. NOT brake cleaner. If it was actually that stuff, then it may not have done too much damage to the belt.

Still, if the belt was squeaking, you probably needed a new belt anyway.
