Default Spudder then Sudden Acceleration

'99 Accord LX, manual 5 spd, 4 cyl.
Warm engine, cruising 45mph (ish), car starts to spudder, speed drops, give it gas, rpms go up, then sudden acceleration.....repeat.
Replaced distibutor, spark plugs and wires. Not sure if my guy checked catalytic converter. Any ideas?

Has it just started happening? Has it been going on long enough to rule out a bad tank of fuel?

Was any work done on the car just before this? (I assume the plugs etc were done after this started)
What kind of spark plugs & wires?

Started out of the blue. I got 02 sensor code. I changed upstream 02 sensor. Plugs, wires, dist. were post spudder. Bad fuel was a thought.

There's several error codes for the O2 sensors. Which code # did it show?

Did it start happening right after getting fuel?

Jim, I do not recall the code number. The code had list of possible remedies, the first of which was 02 sensor. I ran 1/2 tank of fuel when it started. Kinda ruling out fuel for now. I may try fuel treatment to clean injectors.

I was trying to learn if the codes pointed to the front vs. rear O2 sensor. But most likely the rear O2 sensor doesn't have much (if any) authority over fuel.

Re-reading post #3, now I wonder if it all started after replacing the O2 sensor? What brand of sensor? I've heard a few stories of Honda engines not getting along with Bosch O2 sensors. The OEM sensor is Denso.

I installed a new denso o2 sensor. I gave it a nice long test drive and everything appears to be working fine.
