Would it be cheaper/easier to just swap a F22B1 vtec head onto my F22B6? Or should I just have the shop put an F22B1 in?

Default VTEC head on F22B6 block

Ok I've been doing reading on many forums about people doing an F22B1 VTEC head on a F22B2 block and I still can't seem to find a straight answer!!! I have a blown head gasket, and I want to take this opportunity to swap to a VTEC head. I know the B1 head is SOHC but I heard it bolts up the easiest. Yet other people are saying you have to get the VTEC solenoid and other things to get VTEC to actually work. What all do you actually need to make VTEC work? My car is a F22B6 SOHC non-VTEC engine.

As a start you will need to head. Most of the time it will come - junk yard - with the solenoid. You'll ned to ecu, some wires, remove to oil control in the block deck.....and a few other assorted things.

f22b6 block is the same as a f22b1 block. so it will be a easy bolt. In fact all f22 blocks are the same with the exception of the f22c s2k block.
