throttle body

its been awhile since ive posted here. but i got a question i have a 2002 accord and i wanna know if the throttle body will add 8hp and 10tq. i know it prolly wont but maybe with all the other stuff i have on my car already it might actually. and is it even worth it?? i could use your input.. thanks...

dont know if those claims are true, but someone provided me with a great link to get your TB bored http://www.maxbore.com/seems like a good idea to me. I just dont like the down time of not having a TB in my car.

I don't think it could hurt anything but the ol' wallet.

the skunk2 TB claim a 10hp increase i think, but they are pretty expensive

ya everyone claims different gains. what about the space. does the throttle body spacer do any gains? cuz ive heard those will give you gains as well

RE: throttle body

I have a spacer and it doesn't do anything but make a little noise. I'm interested in a larger TB also, but I've heard mixed opinions on it. It seems that there is not enough metal to make boreing the stock worth the effort. Eddlebrock makes a 70 and a 75mm TB and adapter plate that they say works on our cars, but I haven't done enough research yet to see what I'm going to do.

I wouldn't waste my money on it.

The same principle applies.

If I do it I will match the manifold to the larger TB ..... also been thinking about polishing the IM myself ..... no runner porting, just polishing the rough surface off while it's off the car for TB matching. ..... if I do the TB.

I bet a larger TB may actually work on a V6. I just doubt it on a 4 cyl.

RE: throttle body

A cheap vacuum gauge can give you an idea. If the manifold vacuum is already weak (at WOT) then you can be pretty confident that the wide-open throttle isn't producing much restriction.

By connecting the vacuum gauge at different points, you can try to measure where the air loses pressure. Across the filter element, vs. across the TB, vs. anywhere else you can hook up the gauge...
