Default whats the best timing belt to put on a Honda?

i am considering in the near future of replacing the timing belt, water pump, and drive belts on my 1999 Accord lx (i4). thus i am looking around to see what is the best stuff out there.

i came across this link http://www.timingbeltkit.com/servlet...ng-Belt/Detail
which is selling an entire kit for $170.

do you guys think thats a good deal??? is flennor a good brand, or should i go with something like gates?

When it comes to timing belts on a honda I'd stick with OEM, they aren't that much more expensive and they are great belts. Don't forget to pickup the seals and replace those at the same time too. If you want some help with it there's a great write-up in our DIY section as well.

well i will look into oem belts and see how much it costs. should i also get oem seals and all? what about water pump? how much have you guys paid in parts for a timing belt job?

the thing that is attractive about the kit [link posted in the first post] is that everything is included. it says that it has gmb parts, flennor belt, and bando drive belts. are any of those bad enough to stay away from?

sorry for all the questions, but newbie hear and just trying to get a feel of whats the best to keep an 80k miles car going for a long time.

OEM stands for original equipment manufactured

So just go to Honda and ask for them.

The whole timing belt job on my car was a little over $800

In about 30k miles, ill be paying that again....ugh. ONLY get the OEM Honda timing belt. If theres one thing not to go cheap on, the timing belt is it. If you buy a belt thats junk and it snaps, you can bend rods and basically destroy your engine. Hmmm....a few bucks difference for a belt or $4kish for an engine.

150-200 in parts sounds about right. 150 is a pretty good job, most private mechanics will charge somewhere around there. i'm guessing the $800 was done by honda........they have redic labor prices.

www.hondapartswarehouse.com should have all the parts you need, at competitive prices(keep in mind OEM parts can get expensive)

I just ordered a few things from them for my H22 and got them in 2 days, so that was pretty cool.

on another note the only timing belt i would get that isnt OEM is a Greddy one, but i'm pretty sure greddy doesnt make them for the accord.......only the H22
