Whirling noice coming from engine
2001 accord. F23A1, automatic. 326k. Tyranny replaced. New distributor, new mounts left, right and front, needs rear. Got the famous vibration. BBUUTT.. I've noticed when I start the car anytime of day you can hear what sounds like a whirling noise. Now this car sat for a few months. The engine has been upkept with oil changed being done on time but I don't think it's ever had a valve adjustment. Old lady had it and before that a couple. No one that was really into owning a honda. Just brought it to drive it. I'm trying.to get it back to where I can get every bit of the f23 performance back and make it a fun and reliable car. You can definitely hear the whriling noise coming from what seems like the top or mid engine and you can hear it really well when you rev it up. Idle sounds good but that damn vibration. Not sure if.the vibration has anyh4ing to do with it but when I turn on the air conditioning it gets worse. Driving has zero vibration. Sitting at light with ac on and its almost unbearable. I saw a thread that some found the rear mount to be collapsed. All mounts I can see left right and centre are new. Can't see the rear so I'm gonna assume it's shot. Also. Driving on highway with a.c on. I can feel the ac compressor kicking on and off causing a surge or almost like a drop and increase I'm performance. Not sure if this in an indicator that the a.c compressor is on the way out. I'm a seasoned mechanic for the last 15 years but I never owned a honda. Seems like a new world.to me.
