Default $8/quart...are you serious??

Ok, time to change the tranny fluid in my 02 Accord. Lots of posts here preach Honda ATF only. But the dealership wants $8.07 a quart! Holy Moly what is the difference between that and Castrol ATF I can get at Autozone for $4.49 a quart?

I would just get the Honda MTF, as you only need a few(dont remember exactly how many) and its not like you change it ever 3000miles like oil.

Holy Moly $25 every 30k miles...[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

Well consider that $25 against $1400.00 for a trans rebuild.

That $25 for 3 quarts seems to be okay huh?

Why? They are very different fluids... I've used both and MTF only costs like a dollar less.

$8/qt isn't too bad, but it's like $6.50/qt around here... then again you only have to change it every 30k miles, but I like to do mine yearly...

Thumbs up

I have a 97 Accord AT with 180K miles on it . I also change the trans. fluid once a year with the new DW-1 Honda synthetic fluid. It did cost me 21.00 for 3 quarts, which is how much my car takes.

Cheap insurance I guess due to hearing about so many AT issues.

Your are a smart man Jerry

You do not want to deal with a blown auto trans

honda trans rebuilds out of my shop start at about 2200 bucks and go up from there depending on the damage. we have a 55 gal drum of synthetic ATF suitable for most imports and domestic cars, costs us about 6 bucks a quart wholesale. our dex/mercon barrel costs about 4 bucks a quart.
oil is at what? 110 bucks a barrel on the NYSE.
petroleum based industry, everyones paying more.
do not put dex/mercon in any Honda, it will shift so hard your neck will snap. damage will result.
