i mean, something like that would obviously be best case scenario...with something like a sending unit, while not that severe, being worst case,i would think.

make sure you know what you're doing ok

i mean - sending the inverse electrical may even worsen the situation - so be carefull

if the gage works fine - i would think the led is burnt ..

anyway - fill up the tank and drive it assumably till you know for sure you're close to an end - I hope you know you're MPG milage ( everyone should) if you're getting wrong readings that would indicate the faulty sender . Infact - i have a problem with my sender - i think all 94-97 affected with that problem - just dont have the extra 100$ to spend on a new one - my tripo meter works just fine

It's a tad common for your model.

the non-functional fual gauge is? do you knwo why? is it a sending unit issue or the gauge itself?

yes 94-97 is a common problem with a sender , the sender resistors fail after a short time, I'm not sure if there was a recall on that , corrective action is to replace the Sending unit

however if you DO decide to replace the sending unit - buy HONDA ORIGINAL ONLY!! do not get aftermarket part.

also dont forget if you pull the sender out of the gas tank the gasket has to be replaced too. doesn't matter if you change the sender or not.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyway back to the post~~~~~~~~~~~~`
on 2001 hondas the fuel gauge and the sender are the seperate system from the low level light indicator.
the low fuel level is controlled by a thermister within the fuel tank. If you want I will give you some info on how this thermister opperates and how to check it - but unless you care I will not even bother since noone watching this post anyway... []
I want to know Elvamp, I was having same problem before on my '99, then it started working again just like that. Yet I would still like to know how that works, is it even same as in '01? [sm=redx.gif]
