Default '02 Accord - accessory belts OR serpentine belt

'02 Accord 2.3L vtec. I do not have time to devote to changing my timing belts, so It's currently in the shop. I get a call that I also need new accessory drive belts b/c they're cracked. I'm inclined to believe them with 134K miles, but I'm not paying for their $80 belts. So I search for prices online while I wait for timing belt to be done...

My search turns up hits about a single serpentine belt that should run the PS, A/C and alternator. However I also got some hits about a two belt system that runs PS on one belt and the A/C and alternator on the other.

Were both of these options implemented on the 02 accord, or are they trying to get me for 2 belts when I only need 1 (either way I'm doing this at home tonight)?

If your accord has two belts, then you will need to buy two belts.

They should be around $20 each at a dealership.

I get that part. I guess I was just curious. They're not giving me a straight answer over the phone. I will know for sure when I see in person later.

As for price. One belt was quoted at $66 and the other for $19. Generously offered to not charge me labor since the old belts must come off to replace the timing belts

Pretty generous, huh?

I'm quite certain your car has 2 external drive belts. They didn't go to a single serpentine belt until the K-series engine in 2003.

Those prices are what the timing belts cost when I look up your car on Majestic Honda's site. The accessory belts it shows around $20 for each as has been already posted.

You're quite right. I've got my Goodyear belts on hold at my local dealer and I'll get them in the morning for less than half of the dealer.

WOW,, what a rip off...$ 80 ?? ,, how much are they charging you for the timing belt job ?? is it t-belt kit?? they should do it all ,while apart .. timing belt job should include ( t-belt, balancer belt, water pump, coolant , all the seals, bal shaft seal retainer AND outer belts (ALT-A/C ,1 belt )..and P/S ) And tensioners if noisy ( might be extra charge for that)

but to try to charge 80 dollars is a total SIN ,, shame on them,,.........you were smart not to let them supply the belts,, like other have said belt cost around 35-40 for both ,,,
