Default 05 airbag warning light

Have an 05 LX with less than 30K miles.

Red airbag warning light (directly above gas guage) was intermittent for a few months, now on all the time. Doesn't matter if I have a passenger in the RH seat or not.

Really hate to have to take it to the dealer and pay some outrageous fee for them to figure out why light is on. Any common things I might check on my own??

Thanks in advance.

Make sure your warranty is still not effective. Some systems have extended warranty and safety hardware may be covered.

If no, then you need to find out what code is stored. The attached link may be useful to extract your code.

DIY: SRS Codes and reading them. - Club RSX Message Board

If you can extract codes, post them for futher guidance.

A very common reason for SRS light is failed latch detection switch on the seat buckle latch. Sometimes exercising repeatedly and/or a good dose of WD40 can repair. If you can't get a code, this might be worth a try.

good luck

thanks...I'll try to lube that latch.

found out there was a recall on 05's for this exact issue. supposedly the harness for seat position switch was too tight, and wires broke...however, dealer says my vin is not included in recall. Bummer.
