07 Accord, Canopy LIght Lens Removal

Canopy Light is out and needs replacement. Shop manual says pry at lens end to release. I pried as much as I dared w/ no release.

I could use a wood block fulcrum to gain more leverage, however I'm concerned about damaging the lens.

Anyone released this lens and have any suggestions or tips?

thanks

For the canopy lenses, are you referring to the spot lights/map lights or the dome light? Some of the plastic lenses have tabs, so knowing where the tabs are located helps to make it easier to pry out. Normally, it is recommended to also use a shop towel while prying to prevent scratching.

This thread includes an image of the locations of the retaining tabs on the spot/map light lenses for the 7th gen Accord:

Thanks for response. The overhead, central dome light is the one I need to replace. I will try again w/ a rag as indicated. It's alarming when it deflects 1/2" w/o release.

thanks

I took another fresh look and embarringly, I was prying on the base fixture instead of the lens. You have to look close to see the lens is separate.

Bulb replaced and all is well.

thanks
