My 17 year old niece has a Accord the D lite stays on and it is trying to stay in 4th unless you manually shift trans. I was told the computer for the trans is bad. I pulled the console and found no computer and looked under seats and found nothing. Where might I find
it? Thanks

 

I think it's forward in the passenger footwell. Peel back the top of the carpeting where it goes up onto the firewall.

 

The battery was dead when i got to the car so i jumped it and now the transmission works fine! even the D light went out. I guess I still need to install trans computer

 

That light turning on means the transmission computer detected a problem, and doesn't necessarily mean the trans computer is bad.

Did the person who told you the computer was bad check for error codes?

 

When I saw the car the D light was on and if you did not manually shift it would not go into 1st at a stop. then i was told it would not go into reverse, then it sat for a week. thats when I charged battery and drove it to my house and installed the computer they bought.
Since then it appears to be working. The car has 155,000 miles and I noticed the exhaust has rusted through after the CAT. This will have to be fixed. But no the codes were not pulled and I have no idea how. But are willing to learn.

 

ok i am a bit confused here..........if tranny works fine and no D light,, why would you think that you need a tranny computer ??
