1986 accord lxi fuel injected calif. car HELP
need help asap... starts ok cold, runs ok, once shut off after warmed up good and it sits for a few minutes it will not start for around 1-2 hours..it cranks over ok but will not fire and start.. after sitting for 1-2 hours will start and run ok till next time. ignition switch seems ok, has new coil, spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, air filter, and fuel fliter..seems to be temp related.. when it won't start and is cranking over it does develope a odor of fuel.. has 128,000 miles, is automatic with air conditioning and this just started about 3 weeks ago... i need some help.......also, the computer is under the drivers seat and has a plastic cover on it, how do you get that cover off to check computer for any codes...... thanks in advance......

If check engine light comes on when keyswitch is turned to on and goes off w/i 2-3 secs, the computer is OK and no codes are stored. If you get a blank panel when you turn keyswitch On under no-start, the keyswitch is not making contact and needs replacement.
First step is determining what's missing when no-start occurs; fuel or ignition. Next time no start arises, try spraying throttle body cleaner or starter fluid into the air intake. If it starts briefly, ignition is not the problem, but rather fuel delivery. If it fails to start, it is likely ignition.
One possibility might throw the above diagnostic a curve; injectors leaking fuel into the engine causing massive flooding. This would cause no-start when using above diagnostic and cause would be neither fuel delivery or ignition. To rule this out, try starting by opening throttle wide open to clear fuel from engine. If this allows a reasonably quick restart, the problem is massive flooding probably due to a leaking injector/s.
Try above and post your findings.
good luck
