1989 Accord 2.0si Rad fan timer relay location
Can any reader please tell me where the radiator fan timer relay is located for this model year? I have checked behind the dashboard (both sides), both foot-wells, under the bonnet and under both seats.
Some posts specify the location is under the passenger seat for this year but the ECU is mounted there.
Fault symptoms: cooling fan runs OK but will not stay running when ignition is off and engine is HOT. Result is a boiling radiator.
Tried shorting water high temp switch to chassis when engine is HOT; fans do not run.
Thank you.

Thank you poorman212 for your reply and supplying the diagram.
I have checked again just to be sure:
Under the left seat is the ECU.
Under the right seat is a large black module
,factory marked to indicate it controls the door locking,
plus two small relays function unknown.
Interesting further observation: under the hood, in the fuse box, there
is space for a timer relay fuse but it is blanked off so not fitted.
Perhaps this vehicle does not have a fan timer relay ?
I will bleed the system.
My vehicle is an Australian, right hand drive model.

The fans only start when the radiator is just about at boiling point. They stop immediately the ignition is turned off, then the radiator dumps boiling water into the reservoir and then out side the vehicle. Using the aircon keeps the fans running 100% then the radiator will not boil.
From my findings and information supplied on this forum, I suspect the timer is not fitted to this model (manufactured October 1988) and the radiator thermostat needs replacing. This does not see right though.
Would you agree ? Thank you.

I'm going to bet there is a timer somewhere.
If there is a "boiling" after the car is shut off....check to coolant level and be sure there is no trapped air. Replacing the stat, well that can't hurt anything. Checking or replacing the rad cap would be next on my list.
