My car recently turned off on me (first time) while waiting for red light. The "S" light started blinking but I wasn't able to pay much attention how many times since my attention was mainly on getting my car restarted.

I am trying maybe retrieve the stored code doing the the following below but cant seem to find the correct blue 2 pin connector.

I found a blue connector but it does not have the 2 pin wires to insert paper clip to jump and retrieve code (pictures below).

 

You may have to remove that foam and then disconnect the outer part of the blue service check connector.

 

I removed foam but didn't see a way to disconnect anything. There was a piece that seemed like it would release something but didnt do much. Seems like a solid piece.




Does this look like the correct wire?

For your 1990 Accord, to retrieve any ECU trouble codes, the ECU has a circular window to read if there are any trouble codes. You just turn the ignition key to "ON" to read if there are any codes. I don't believe you have to connect the SCS connector on the 1990 Accord to get the trouble codes if you are just looking at the ECU circular window.

The ECU and TCU are under the passenger side carpet.

But, as an option, if you want to read the trouble code via the Check Engine Light blinking, then you jump the SCS connector.

I am not sure for your 1990 Accord if the "S" light will flash without jumping the blue SCS connector to retrieve TCU transmission trouble codes.

If you can't remove that outer part of the blue connector, you may be able to try jumping it with small alligator clips and a wire.

 

So I just jumped it from the top where the wires go in and I think it worked.




The "S" light didn't flash but the "check engine light" was flashing.

I pretty sure I counted 15 (15 Ignition output signal). 1 long blink and five short blinks.

 

Great idea, whatever works.

 

Am I right that its the "15 Ignition output signal"?


Is there a link to troubleshoot this code 15?

And is there a common problem with this make/model that I should check first?
