Default 1992 Accord…. back running light will not **** off and kills the battery

I just purchased my first Honda. Once you get in and hook up battery and start it then shut it off the brake and/or back running lights will stay on until the battery is dead. Please help.!

Is the high mount brake light on the rear windshield on as well?

What PAHonda said. If your brake lights are all lit up there is a plastic plug in the brake pedal right where the brake light switch is. The brake light switch has a plunger, and when it's extended the brake lights light up.

The plastic plug will disintegrate, allowing the plunger to stay extended all the time. I put a small nut/bolt in the hole where the plug was, and the plunger pushes in when it hits the bolt, switching the lights off.

Yep you are right.
You can make something for that. Take 1 short bolt and two nuts, it's hard to reach. But if you can reach on the other side and hold it with a piece of tape until you tighten those nuts(Because it's hard to reach with your arm and hold it in place). You can tighten those two small nuts. It's better than the rubber piece they sell you at the parts store. That part doesn't last long and that rubber piece will wear out and get indented. It's like a button that depresses itself when you are not pushing the brakes. When that button is pushed the brake lights go out.

Same thing on the clutch pedal, and if it's out on the clutch your cruise control won't work.
