Hi guys,

I want to say hi first.

Anyway, I have 1993 accord and after I replace a distributor, I have some strange knocking noise.
The noise comming fro a little valve like thing on a firewall.

So I replace the valve like thing( I don't know the name), but still when it's idle or turn on signal or turn on headlight, it has 'Tek, Tek Tek,..' like noise.

What should I replace? and what is a reason it has noise?

are you sure it's not just lifter rattle? or a timing issue?

 

Yes, when the car has tick, tick noise, I touch that valve thing and it knock and knock from inside.(it's very difficult to explain but I could feel the knocking when I touch the valve thing)
And I have changed the valve thing, but still it has knocking noise.

 

It sounds more like out of adjustment valves, low oil or mis-timed. Did you double check your timing when you did the distributor change? When was the last time you did a valve adjustment?

 

it was 2 weeks ago. and yes, after I changed the distributor, the noise started.
I gotta re check the timming.

By the way, what is the name of that black valve thing? the noise is comming fro that black thing.(knock, knock knock,..like)

Vacuum hose and electrical wiring, I do not see a MAP sensor on the manifold, is this the old style, firewall mounted MAP sensor, how many wires, 3?

If its 2 wires, then I would say it the idle up solenoid for when the AC is turned on or during sharp turns to idle the engine up to give added power steering force.

Unplug it if it is 2 wires, there should be no drivability problems with AC off.

 

Automatic tranny? Maybe it's the control solenoid that supplies vacuum to the rear engine mount?

Or... The EVAP purge valve should open/close repeatedly when the engine's idling.

Where do the vacuum hoses go?

 

it has 2 wires and 2 air hoses connected.
I'll post a picture later on.
