Default 1997 accord maintenance

Hello all,
I just got a 1997 accord. The little "maintenance required" window under the bezel of the dash instruments has gone from green/yellow to red. Can anyone tell me what this means and how to clear(reset) it.
Thanks,
Ray

in the center or left of the instrument panel is a black slot to push your key in to reset it.

It means that xxxx miles have passed since it was last pushed in; no sensor input, doesn't mean anything.
xxxx may be 7500 miles, check your owners manual.

welcome

The maintenance indicator comes in on my 97 Accord periodically, and as mentioned I just reset it with my key.

I personally would change the oil and filter, air filter, spark plugs and PCV valve to start.

After buying my 97 Accord in 08, I have done much more than that though including timing belt, struts, axles, rotors, brakes, tires, exhaust, and hope now do drive with minimal expense.

It would be good if you know when your timing belt/water pumps was done, as it should be replaced every 90K or 7 years.

Good luck!

That is for the oil changes. The owners manual and the "counter" are set to th 7,500 mark to remind you to change the oil.
