Im new to the forum. I recently bought a 1997 honda accord and noticed that the radiator fans wont turn on and someone bypassed the AC compressor with a smaller belt. Why would the fans not work? Why would someone bypass the AC compressor? Can that cause problems?

 

I'm guessing the a/c compressor was bypassed because it wasn't working. It won't cause problems, but your a/c won't work. You'll have to do some diagnostics on why the a/c wasn't working.

For the 2 fans on the radiator, they should turn on when you turn on the a/c even with the a/c bypassed. On the thermostat housing, there is a green 2-pin connector plugged into the fan switch. Unplug the connector, then use a piece of wire to jump that connector. Both fans should turn on. We can give you more tests depending on your results.
