Sure, if it's due for tune-up stuff...
But it does sound like a flaky ignition switch.

I think the recall for the ignition switch isn't related - they replace the lock cylinder. It's a different issue where a failed interlock will allow you to remove the key while the engine is running. Funny that's considered more hazardous than stalling...?

Yes, the recall is related to the interlock. (I could remove the key while the car was still in drive). I guess I incorrectly thought they replced the entire ignition switch.

There's a lot of confusion about the ignition-switch recalls. That's plural, recallS. I think there's a recall for earlier years that covers the electrical part of the ignition switch. I used to have a 1998 and it was recalled for the key-cylinder just like yours. (However mine wasn't bad enough to remove the key)
