1999 LX intermittent A/C (w/o climate control)

4 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what my car problem is:

I have had intermittent A/C (all lights turn off, fan blows) in my 1999 Accord LX car - I don't have climate control.

I have done the following:
  • Checked all fuses and they were fine.
  • Opened up the board and there is no corrosion (picture included).
  • Checked cooling fluid.

Often when it's not working, plugging it back in (green connector) seems to do the trick.

Any ideas?
Thank you

Suggest a couple of checks:

1) Rap the clutch face (carefully!) w/ a hefty stick or screwdriver w/ AC commanded (AC on, fan on). If compressor comes on, the clutch gap is too large and will need to be reduced (remove clutch plate and remove shim). This is common w/ intermittent AC symptoms.

2) If 1) doesn't produce any compressor engagement, try disconnecting compressor clutch connector and check for 12v when AC is commanded On same as above.

If 12V is present, the compressor coil may be open, preventing compressor engagement.

If 12v is missing, look for failed compressor relay, AC pressure switch, or possibly low charge (particularly if cooling was subpar).

good luck

There might be an issue on the board.

Do the tests as TX described.

If those test out you might want to read and think about this : https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...g-50944/page3/

I might have described the problem incorrectly. The entire heater system kicks out not just the A/C (all the lights go out and only fan speed knob works). I think it's more connected to the control panel but I don't know why it's intermittent and not just completely dead.

This is my problem exactly. Did you ever find out what was wrong?
