2000 Accord dash brake light comes on.

About every4 months, my dash brake light comes on and stays on. Brake fluid is good. Braking is good. E brake is fully released. IfI go under the hood and pop the cap on the master cylinder and put it back on, the light goes out and stays out till another 3 or 4 months go by. What could this be? Thanks for any help.

you need to replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap,, it has a sensor in it and at time it fails ,it sticks , giving the impression that master is empty

I agree with dh. There is a float in the cap that goes up & down to measure the fluid. That float could be stuck or malfunctioning. You also may want to check the wire connections at the cap. There are two wires going into the cap that send the fluid level info back to the car's ECU. Make sure they are both connected and tight.

I believe there is a TSB on this. I replaced the cap and filter on mine and that fixed it.
