Default 2000 Honda Accord SE ULEV

Odometer coming up on 200k, question is previous owner had timing belt, water pump replacement at 100k @ Honda dealership. I Utube the process on replacing the belts ect,bearings,pump.. Wow what drama that can be,especially the Crank pulley? Anyway I know the belt will not break at 201k or the water pump does not leak? My concern if the timing Belt does wear, jump a tooth or even break, will the Valves clash with piston travel and hurt the engine? Just curious if it can happen, otherwise I will continue to drive beyond 200k, she does idle smooth presently, thanks for any feedback...

I've move this to General Tech.

If the belt jumps far enough or breaks - I'd give it a 99% chance of damage. How much damage is the luck of the draw....might get lucky and only bend one valve.

So if you are paying someone, do you want to spend ~$500 now (one day in the shop) or ~$1500 later (car will prob be in the shop for at least two days).

Yes, at 201K it will not just go but know that you are on borrowed time.

Just my opinion.
