Default 2001 Honda Accord Door Locks (no remote fob)

I'm satisfied with my 'key only' and don't really need a remote, but was hoping I could change my elec door lock config with some (hopefully simple : ) rewiring.

I have the basic 'key' lock config, i.e. no remote 'clicker', but just the key. Turning the key, on the driver door, ONLY unlocks the driver door, while the key in the passenger door unlocks all doors.

QUESTION- Is there a way to have the 'key-in-driver door' also unlock all doors?

If not, any recommendations on a remote upgrade? Is it all 'after market' or does Honda offer a kit?

All doors can be locked from the
outside by using the key in either
front door. To unlock only the driver's
door from the outside, insert the key
in the driver's door lock, turn the key
and release it. If you turn the key
and hold it, all doors will unlock
.
All
four doors will unlock when you
unlock the passenger's door with the
key.

What trim level is your Accord (DX, SE, LX, EX)? Some models already have the capability for the OEM remote.

Adding an aftermarket keyless system shouldn't be too hard though if the car already has power locks.

Well I be darned! Since I've owned the car (don't ask how long I never held the key 'back', long enough to discover that. Embarrassing, but certainly a simple fix.

Thanks again

On a slightly related topic- Can I download, or subscribe online to, the Honda Owner's Manual? I don't mind paying a fee.

It's a lot easier looking something up (like door locks !!! in my living room, on a laptop, rather than my paper copy, on the trunk lid, with a mag light to help my tired old eyes on all that fine print.

Googling around has lots of possibilities, but thought I'd ask her first. (sorry- i don't do twitter or Facebook)

Any other suggestions, most welcome

For the LX, if the car didn't have the factory installed security system, then the keyless entry was an optionally installed system.

The other way to have remote lock and unlock feature, is to have an an optional Honda security system, aftermarket system, or keyless entry system (without alarm).

With an accessory security system, the lock and unlock input wires from the accessory security system plugs into a separate connector (connector C425 for U.S. model, connector C421 for Canadian model), which is located in the area above the driver's fuse/relay box. (See attached pic.) Wires from the connector C425/C421 run to the power door lock control unit in the driver's door.

The optional security system or aftermarket system would be the control unit to remotely control the lock and unlock of the doors.

I will not comment on a remote start system at this time.

Thanks again (and again!) for all the info

QUESTION- How do I access the manual?

Is it all online (fine by me) or am I to save the (pdf?) doc?

Nothing, either online, or in the saved doc, seems 'clickable'.
