2002 Automatic Transmission question
Hey,
First time poster here. My '02 Accord transmission has done this twice in the last two weeks and it happened on the two coldest mornings temps around 30 degrees(the only time so far this fall it has been that cold).
Started and let engine warm up for about 5 min. Got in car noticed check engine light and TCS was on. Went in reverse fine. Put in D4 and accelerated but it acted like it was in 2nd or 3rd. Dropped it to 1st and it engaged in 1st. Also, I noticed D4 did not illuminate on instrument panel. So I went to work shifting manually. TCS and Check Engine light stayed on for 15 miles.
3 hours later TCS did not come back on but Check Engine was still on. Seemed to be driving and shifting normally in D4. Autozone ran codes and came back 2 possible causes: P1607-"ECM/PCM internal circuit failure probable cause" and P1676-"FPTDR signal line failure". One part was $200.00 and the other little over $300.00. Dont have the money to be trading out parts for that kind of money.
Seems to be cold related. Any help will be greatly be appreciated.

You can buy used ECM and PCM on ebay or car-part.com for <$50 usually.
I would reset ECM/PCM by pulling the BackUp fuse in underhood fuse box for 20 secs.
Also check your battery condition and make sure your battery connections are clean/tight.
good luck

Great advice TexasHonda! First I checked the battery and found the positive terminal and found it to be loose. Ended up having to replace the terminal. Super easy and cheap fix! You know your stuff! Thanks!!
