2002 Honda Accord EX V6 transmission slip between 1 and 2
Any suggestion/help would be greatly appreciated...
My 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 transmission is slipping/jerking between 1st and 2nd gears only, otherwise is seems smooth. I realize there are tranny issues with this model, but I am hoping to catch it early and save or prolong it's life. I plan to drain and refill fluid using genuine ATF DW-1. Anything else I could, should or shouldn't do? THANK YOU! you can try the Lucas luc10009 transmssion fix, cost around 10-12 dollars , it might help and buy you some time before tranny eventually has to be repaired ,,
depends on how many ozs you add you might have to drain some tranny fluid ,, it think bottle comes in 24 oz ,, if you decide to try it,, hope that it helps,,, |
The friction material on the clutches may be worn enough that the fluid may not fix the issue, but changing the fluid is worth a shot.
If you stop by a parts store, have them scan for codes just to be sure that this isn't a faulty electrical component on the transmission. You may want to clean any debris blocking the shift solenoids and filter gasket screens. You may want to look into pricing for a rebuilt transmission to get an idea of the future cost to replace if the trans stops working in the near future. |
Thanks. I have heard cleaning the solenoid screens can do wonders.

Do NOT use Lucas anything; drain the ATF from the transmission, refill it, drive a few miles, and then repeat two more times.

What are you trying to say, that you think a Lucas product is recommended for Honda transmissions? If so, please provide references Honda publications which support that. As for as I know, literally ALL aftermarket treatments are expressly forbidden for use in any and all Honda transmissions.
