Default 2002 Honda Accord VP bought new off dealership lot without knock Sensor

Im a one owner. The car is missing the knock Sensor and Pigtail connector. The only time the car was on a lift for work was for the exhaust system. The threaded hole looks like it never had something screwed into it.

Only LX, EX, and SE trims have a knock sensor.

When I ran a search online for the part I always put VP or DX and the caption would come up these fit the Value Package and or DX. But you are positive that VP and DX don't have them?

Another way to look at this is, your car is now 20 years old and has never had a knock sensor, clearly it doesn't need it.

Thanks for that generalization, it has never had pre-detonation aka, the knock. The threaded hole is there and looks like nothing ever was installed in it. There other clue is there's no pig-tail wire installed.

There are reputable online car part stores stating that they have knock sensors for the Value Package and DX Accords, what gives?? This is what they list.

2002 Honda Accord LX 2.3L 4 Cyl 2002 Honda Accord EX 2.3L 4 Cyl 2002 Honda Accord DX 2.3L 4 Cyl 2002 Honda Accord SE 2.3L 4 Cyl 2002 Honda Accord Value Package 2.3L 4 Cyl

There is no such a thing as "pre-detonation", this is a made up construct which is a conflation of preignition and detonation; two very different and diametrically opposed events. The goal of every engine designer is to get their engine to operate at the edge of incipient detonation; this returns the best power and economy. Preignition on the other hand will literally destroy your engine within a few revolutions.

If a search is done with the car's specs. first (e.g., year, trim level, etc.) at reputable online Honda dealers, the knock sensor would be blanked out in the applicable detail listings.

For example, the knock sensor is # 14 in the parts image diagram; but, there is no # 14 include with the applicable detail listing under the VP at the same page.

Example #1 at Honda e-store (official Honda site):

Example #2 at Honda Parts Now:
