2002 Honda Acoord lx 2.3 vtech
Hello all, i just purchased a 2002 honda accord v 4, automatic, 2.3 vtech engine. The problem im having is the following. Seems like the transmission slips when shifting from 2 to 3 gear only. The shift is not smooth rather rough at times otherwise the car runs great. I took the car to my mechanic and ran it through the scanner and nothing pop out as being wrong, i took it to autozone as well they found nothing. I changed the transmission fluid, seems like i had never been changed before it was literally black so i drained it 2 times. I used the Valvoline max life fluid, i drove the car around 200 miles today the car seemed to run smoother but still jerks. Anyone else have this issue or have any recommendations?
thanks

Flaring rpm during shift is usually a symptom of worn clutch for 4th gear. Flaring shift can be tolerated for a long time by slightly reducing throttle near shift point.
A misadjusted trans shift cable can also cause this symptom and is repairable. It is described in Honda shop manual in details too long to describe here. Suggest purchasing ($22) an emanual from automanualsource.com.
good luck
