My car is an 02 Accord SE, 4 cycl, auto with 45,700 miles on it. All service is up to date. When the car is cold it shifts fine. I can use the car, drive on the highway and come off it and again its still fine. Yesterday I had the AC on, some traffic drove home from work (16 miles) and I was getting delayed shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. I had this problem a few weeks ago during a hot spell and thinking back I had the AC on at that time but since then its been fine.
Transmission was serviced (single dump and fill) 10,000 miles ago.
There are no CEL lights and the D4 does not blink.

When the it starts acting up, it will also make a slight noise going into reverse and drive.
The car according to the temp gauge is right in the middle.

Since this seems to be heat related as far as I can see, I'm plaining on doing a double dump and fill (yes I only use Honda fluid), but I'm thinking there might be a problem with the Solenoid or the wiring. Since it fails when the engine bay gets real hot when the AC's on, I'm think maybe a wiring issue.
Any thoughts?

The Honda shop manual has a extensive list of Symptom Troubleshooting Charts which provides some guidance for a wide variety of symptoms. You may want to purchase an emanual from automanualsource.com for $22 to review.

Unfortunately, most of the problems would require transmission removal and repair to correct, but some are fixable w/o this drastic measure.
