Hello. First timer here. My wife's 2003 Accord EX Cpe, V6, AT has been giving up some nickel and dime issues. The newest is the steering wheel buttons (CC/ radio controls) have become completely inoperable. They were on and off again but now nothing. I have some pretty good idea of the issue, but wanted to ask to see if anyone has a specific repair in the past. I know I'll need to pull the air bag, after the SRS system has been disarmed, etc.

 

are many of the other nickel and dime issues largely electrical?
if its "all" of the steering wheel features/buttons then there is a good chance that the wiring harness has either shorted or become disconnected. another possibility is that there is no power going to the wheel.

 

Brett, Thanks for the reply. The only issue that are related to the electrical system, thankfully. The buttons were working from the most part, then we had to turn the wheel to get them to work. I thought the contacts were going bad, but now I believe we may need to pull the steering column and replace the mechanism. I am thinking that because it is an option it should easily plug into the wiring harness. Thanks again.

 

There's a cable reel at the steering wheel that maintains those circuits as you turn the wheel. It's not "contacts" but a self-contained cable assembly that winds back & forth.
