Is a 3/4" garden hose going to fit onto the heater core in/out line ( same size as core hoses)?

You can buy a fitting to adapt from hose to heater hose. It's a hose nipple end x garden hose female adapter. Check youtube videos by Chrisfix on this subject.

good luck

Is the three-quarter diameter garden hose the same diameter as the heater core hoses?

Ok, so I did a heater core flush yesterday. I added Prestone flush to the core and let it soak for an hour, then flushed the core in both directions. This resulted in more heat on the driver's side! Not perfect, but it will get us through the winter. Thanks everyone for the advise! Much appreciated.

I had the system flushed just prior to doing this, yet the water that came out of the core and the system is still very rust colored. Is this normal? the vehicle has about 110k on it and I'm not the original owner. I ended up draining and flushing the radiator, cleaning the overflow bottle out (3" of sludge at the bottom) and replaced the coolant. Would there be any benefit in adding more Prestone flush to the system and allowing it to remain in the system for a few days and then drain, flush and fill again?

Rusty water coming out is not normal.

I guess I'd use that flush chemical in the whole cooling system, but not for longer time than what the instructions say. If the water comes out rusty, then repeat the clean/flush rather than leaving it in too long.

Sorry I've been a little MIA since this started.

First, glad you have "some heat" now.

Second, I agree with Jim on a "total" flush. You could put this off till spring or so. When you get ready for that, there is a drain plug in the block you can use to be sure that you get all of the old coolant/flush solvent out.

Is this a freeze plug or a removable plug? Where is it located?

It is more like a drain - almost like the one for the radiator.

I contacted the place that did the flush. They agreed to flush it again at n/c. Just got back.
Drivers side: 127F passenger side: 148F ( on Hi ). Might be as good as it's going to get.
