Unhappy 2003 Accord whining noise only in park and neutral!

When i start the accord it has a whining noise in neutral and park. If i give it some gas the whining noise seems to make a faster pace whining noise. When i put the car in gear (automatic) the whining noise goes away. If i put in reverse it goes away. And when i am driving it does not make that sound at all. What could possibly be making this noise? I know it is time for a transmission flush. Could that be the problem. And has anybody ever had this type of noise on there vehicle? Thanks for any replies!

only in park or neutral would unlikely involve the transmission. i'd look under the hood at some rotating mass, alternator, p/s pump, waterpump, belt tensioner etc...
