2003 EX Auto Shifter Suddenly Loose
The transmission shifter on my 2003 Accord EX suddenly has suddenly become vague, loose even, as if it drifts between P R D D3 1 2....it no longer "stops" firmly on any position. This has not affected the transmission or the way the car drives at all, it does not jump out of gear (although it feels as if the slightest bump would make it) there is no unusual sound, the fluid it at the correct level and clean. This occurred after I had driven the car, got out, and then back in again within the hour. Any ideas? Thanks.

I guess I should've asked whether it's a V-6 or 4-cyl? Even so I don't really know the answer.
I used to have a 98 4-cyl auto, and I thought those notches came from a spring & cam mechanism down at the base of the shift lever. Not sure if 6th-gen is the same way, but maybe you can remove some shrouds around the shift lever & have a look.

Winterland hasn't posted since 2014. Unfortunately it's pretty common for us to never hear back whether something is fixed.
Anyway, is yours a 2003 4-cyl automatic, 4-door, EX?
I guess the first thing would be have a look inside the console, see if something is coming loose. Also you might check where the shift cable attaches to the transmission to see if something is coming loose down there.
