I was wondering if anyone has any idea what might be going on. In the morning (or when the engine has been off for a long time) I am having trouble starting. The starter turns fine, but the engine does not always start from the first try. Also, at about 30-40 mph I hear a low level hum coming from under the hood. The noise is hardly noticeable and is easier heard when my foot is off the gas pedal. Any ideas what this might be? I still have the original battery, but I don't think that the battery is the problem because the starter and lights work fine.

 

Is there any problem with power at high rpms? Trouble around 70 in D3? The noise is going to be difficult to diagnose without seeing the car.
