Okay here is the situation, my car recently died on me early morning. Now when I put the key in the ignition everything works normal and when I turn the the key over all dash lights work, headlights work etc...now when I try starting the car up it turns over but just gives me a clicking sound like it wants to start but doesn't...is it the starter or something else?..now I have 94k miles on the car and this has been the first thing ever to go wrong with my car..I have never replaced any parts on the car or done any tune up...so if it is the starter what else should I replace or do while I'm changing out the starter?

First off.......make sure that battery is fully charged, cables are clean and tight ,,,,,,if ok.....chk to see if you get power at starter solenoid wire when someone tries to start the car , if you do , you got a bad starter..

There's also the caveman test. While someone tries to start it, hit the starter with a broom handle or something. If that makes it go, you got a bad starter. (If that doesn't make it go, it does NOT prove the starter is good.)

It should be located on the side of the engine that has the transmission (driver's side).

The easiest way to find it is to follow the positive battery cable. It will go to the engine bay fuse box and the starter.

Batteries last about five year. I don’t know if this is the problem but if you still have the original it is something to consider replacing.

Automatic or manual tranny? This picture is automatic.

First part of the transmission case is shown. The starter is located under the engine's intake manifold, in the general area where the seals #13 & 16 are shown.
