My oil has a gas smell. What could cause this? I this a common problem? What should I do?
Thanks Terry |
first,, i would replace oil and filter..
you need to monitor it,, make sure that there is not a leaking injector,, |
change oil, monitor
Do you think there would be a problem to change the oil, and, drive 200 or so miles? How can you check if it is a leaking injector? is there an inline gauge that I could put inline? How much pressure drop would be acceptable?

Leaking injector isn't so much a problem while driving (especially long trips). It's when you shut off the engine it leaks, and if you only drive short trips the gas never gets a chance to evaporate out of the oil.

If you have a leaky injector, then the residual fuel pressure in the line would drain into the cylinder. You can tell by driving, letting it cool down, and pulling the plugs to check for damp plugs.
When you try to start your car after its set for a while, does it instantly fire, or do you have to crank it? |
