Default 2005 accord coupe recall fix- now problem

Last weekend, I brought my 05 accord coupe to the dealer for the recall computer reprogram to fix a potential transmission issue. Since then, I noticed that when I accelerate and come to the 37 mph point there is a shutter/chatter that ends at about 40 mph. This does not happen every time but, about every 3rd or 4th time. I found it strange and this occurrence was not present before the recall fix. It feels like I was driving across ripple bumps in the road; however, there were no road bumps. Has any one else who had the recall fix experienced this?

This sound/feel is caused by the engine lugging (not a good thing). The computer program update may have made the problem worse.

I have noticed a slight lugging w/ my 07 Accord. The 03-07 Accords are geared for low rpm in 4th gear and any operation below 40 mph in 4th may produce lugging. I would suggest returning to at least register a complaint.

good luck

I'm a little confused. This is an automatic transmission. A manual, I can understand the lugging, but in an automatic traveling at normal acceleration on a flat surface. I suspect it is the new computer programing. Car has 72,000 miles and in excellent condition and very well maintained. Using Honda synthetic trans oil changed -20,000 miles ago. I will call the dealer though.

When torque converter locks, the engine and drivetrain are directly engaged and lower speed can result in lugging if the AT does not downshift promptly enough. The computer update may have changed the shift points and made the problem worse.

good luck

Same idea with an automatic.

If the programming of the auto-trans results in it shifting into a higher gear, too early, then it lugs the engine down at an RPM that's too low. What was engine RPM when this was happenning?

If the transmission is shifting too soon & running the engine at too-low RPM then I'd go back & complain that the reprogramming has resulted in this problem.

It happens in 4th gear around 17-19000 rpm. I going Monday to have the dealer look at it. Probably won't happen with them and happen once I leave.

V6 or 4cyl?

1700 rpm sounds low if it's a 4cyl. Not sure if that's true for a V6. (I bet it's not really 17000).

4 cyl. Today, I kept my eye on the tach. It was 17000. I wonder if they used the wrong reprogram?

No. The engine's redline is about 6,000. The tachometer doesn't even go to 17,000.
