Tonight I couldn't start my car, wouldn't turn over and the gear shift wouldn't come out of park. I used the shift lock key and still it would not start in neutral. Tow Truck Driver jump started it fine and I drove home (20 minutes running the battery) and when I got home and turned the engine off and tried to restart it- nothing happened. Stuck in park again, I can't even get the door locks to lock with the remote. Could that be an alternator? A computer chip? Any help would be profoundly appreciated. Just need to figure out if I ned to tow it to dealer or take it to a closer place more local. Thank you. Glad to be a part of this forum!

Got a multi-meter?

Measurebattery voltage with everything turned off.
Measurebattery voltage with everything (lights, etc) turned on.
Jump start it & measure again with engine idling.

With those 4 measurements we can tell a lot. Then we might suggest additional measurements.
