2007 Accord SE security hood switch - Not working
My car got broken into the other day and a bunch of stuff stolen. Looks like they even tried to take the battery. I just bought some wheel locks and the Hood switch for the security system, but the hood switch isn't working.
The "Security System Hood Switch" from Honda has a P/N of 08E49-SDA-100. I followed the instructions step by step, part by part. All the electrical connections are good, I've reseated them but it's still not working. I've tried: -Setting the alarm while someone was inside, having them pull the hood release and then opening it - Trying to trigger the sensor with a flat head screwdriver Neither works & I'm just about to take a crow bar to it and see if that's what I have to do to get it to work. I have no idea what else to do. Can anyone please help me. Instructions: http://www.handa-accessories.com/acc...hoodswitch.pdf |
Do you have the factory security system or just keyless entry?
Can you trip the sensor just by opening and closing the switch when it's not installed? |
As far as I know, it has the security system. I will take a look this weekend when I have time to verify that it does. I don't see why it wouldn't. I assume I would be looking for these parts when I take the drive side panel off: http://www.handa-accessories.com/acc...d-security.pdf
I also tried to trip the sensor with the hood open and the latch not installed, but it still did not work. EDIT: The alarm does sound when I hit the Panic button on the fob. Not sure if it's tied in with the security system or not, but I thought I would mention that. |
I figured it out. Turns out my car doesn't have the security system in place (It's a 4cyl). I'll be purchasing that asap. Thanks for the response!
