2007 Honda Accord MANUAL TRANS will not engage - SOLVED
i have a 2007 honda accord LX 2.4 liter 4 cylinder and yes its a manual trans. Car has 89k miles and was involved in a small collision on front right tire.. so that would be the passenger front tire. i had to replace the tie rod, and while i had it all apart replaced the cv axle which looked just fine.
OK MY ISSUE... I cannot get this car to move forwards nor backwards. It starts just fine... i put it into gear and let go of clutch and nothing... still feels the same like it goes into gear and i hear the normal noise just wont move.. another odd thing is i can put it into any gear with the car on, and not using a clutch.. even reverse.. it almost seems like the clutch is stuck with pedal down and wont let it go so i can move forward.. Does the computer need to be reset or something since the accident idk.. please help

after the crash it stopped working.. i had to replace the tie rod because they were bent in the crash.. the axle was replaced for good measure.. however, while i had to move it off the tow and in my driveway BEFORE i replaced the tierod/axle it wouldnt move, just rev up
yea the mechanism on tranny all functions fine.. there is fluid.. when i had the car jacked up on 1 side and the driver wheel on the ground.. if car was in neutral the axle spun freely with little resistance.. when i put it in gear and clutch pedal was up.. it caused more resistance was harder to turn but none the less it turned.. this was with the driver wheel on ground and passenger up... it really starting to feel like the clutch stuck on engage, OR a driveline in tranny but im learning towards a new clutch as i get some resistance when i spin the axle with clutch in up position and in gear.. feels like the clutch pedal is pushed down... i was thinking maybe a fuse or somehow to reset the computer for a clutch but wont be an easy fix... these clutches for this car at autoparts are VERY EXPENSIVE!! like 300 bux.. anyone ever use the ebay ones? they are listed for 183 but dont know the quality...
You say the trans mechanism functions fine, but then you go on to describe an action that is NOT fine. Namely, one wheel on the ground, in gear, you can spin the other wheel.
Put the front up on stands. Transmission in 1st gear.
Clutch engaged (that means pedal NOT pressed down).
Spin one front tire by hand. The other tire should spin the opposite direction.
Now hold one front wheel. You can do this a couple different ways:
- lower one front wheel to the ground
- have a friend hold it & don't allow it to spin
- remove the wheel & put a screwdriver in a rotor vent hole so it wedges against the caliper
NOW with one wheel held, you should NOT be able to spin the other front wheel. If it spins, what does it feel like? Smooth but more friction? Notchy? Try other gears other than 1st (only if it DOES spin).
When you replaced the axle, did it snap firmly into the transmission? Can you pull it outwards? One possibility is it's not snapped into place, and isn't fully engaged into the differential.

that axle doesnt have a snap ring on the end of the rod that goes into tranny.. it has it at the end of the rod... and if i tried that with the wheels and the clutch is stuck on engage (drepressed).. would it spin freely with 1 wheel down.. Ive already taken it down the car down to the shop to have the clutch replaced..
I installed that axle correctly..
