2008 EX-L ... any owners in here?
I'm considering a new EX-L and would like to hear from current owners.
1) How does it handle in the snow/ice?
2) What kind of mileage are you getting?
3) Any options you really like or wish you got?
Thanks all!

Nope... looking for something that'll get good mileage, looks nice, will handle well in the snow, and isn't too expensive. The Acura TL looks nice, but requires preminum fuel and lacks the VCM feature the Accord has standard. The Passet also looks nice, but also requires preminum fuel and is significantly more expensive.

The reason I asked is because most accords that I have driven handle remarkably well in the snow, I think it's due to their weight. Have you checked out the 2008 Fuel Economy guide for economy numbers? It's supposed to be pretty accurate now since they forced car manufacturers to change the way they rate economy to more real world situations. one other thing with passats is that they are stupid expensive to repair and VW doesn't have the greatest track record for reliability....

Yeah, I've heard that before.. plus the 4-banger turbo was introduced in 2006 and there isn't a huge track record for it. Anyway, maybe others will reply to the thread. Thanks for the info.

@smaglik - Thanks for the reply. Does your 07 accord have the VCM feature? How many miles do you have on it, what is your typical mostly highway mileage and how does it handle in the snow?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I dont know what the VCM feature is. It might.
Vehicle only has about 5500 miles on it. I've had it since mid-sept. On mostly level ground, it'll get 30 on the highway. It seems to drop off quickly when there is more resistance. I expect the mileage to improve as the engine gets completely broken in.
I haven't hit snow with it yet. I am driving back to flag tomorrow, and might see some then. I would expect it to be quite good. Previously I had an 07 Accord SE sedan and it handled quite well. Honestly, it will never see a lot, as snow is part of the reason I have a truck.

Thanks for the reply. VCM = variable cylindermanagment which goes from 6 --> 4 --> 3 cylinders as you're coasting. Link. I should have googled it. It's only in the following vechiles (model year and newer):
2008 Honda Accord
2006 Honda Accord Hybrid (J30)
2006 Honda Odyssey (J35)
2006 Honda Pilot (J35)

I've had my EX-L V6 for 3 weeks now and took 1 long-distance trip. Mileage has been 23-28 MPG so far with my heavy foot.
The only snow I've encounteed was about a half-inch. The car did well but, it wan't much of a test.
I wouldn't have minded getting the nav system but, wasn't prepared to pay $2,000 for it
My previous car was a 2002 VW Passat which I loved except for the eye-popping costs for maintenance and repairs and the added cost for premium fuel.
I love the new Accord and am confident that I won't be needing the frequent repairs that the Passat required.
