Default 2010 accord cranked a long time befor starting

Today before going to work my 2010 accord cranked a long time before starting,it had never done that before.I had the oil changed last week and the receipt showed the battery was good.I also just checked the battery cables and terminals.Everything was tight and clean. What else would cause this? Thank you

As a layman, my immediate thought is: it's a 2010! It must be under warranty. I would bring the car to the dealership and have them check it out. Although the Accord experts here can surely provide some good advice as well, but it's always good to have someone actually looking at it.

If warranty service is available, that's your first stop.

If that is not the case, suggest checking the intake air bypass valve. It should be open w/ cold engine to assist w/ starting. If failed closed, the starting may be difficult.

good luck

In either case, they are both right..1st Stop is a free-be..Dealership is The Choice.

Hi there,

I've found that a quick release of the key after 2 or 3 cranks, then waiting 5-10 seconds before trying again, works very well. On the second attempt, it starts up in an instant. So far, at least, this seems to be the best way to deal with a battery which frankly isn't as powerful as it ought to be, regardless of age. It's the biggest shortcoming of an otherwise well-equipped vehicle, in my view.

Regards,
Anthony
