Question 4th Gen TRANSMISSION Service question

I have a '93 Accord with an automatic trans. I was wondering if any of you have removed the Shift solenoid and the lock up solenoid to clean the filters under there?

My car had 260,000 miles on it and I am wondering if this will help shifting.

I looked at the ones on my Odyssey and cleaned them out and was wondering if anyone has done this on their Accord to help smoothe out the shifting.

Could any of our resident Honda mechanics take a stab at this?

I've seen postings here about people doing that. I don't own any automatics, so I'm not gonna make any firsthand claims.

It sounds to me like an easy thing to take them off & clean them. Even if it's a small chance of any improvement, this is still a pretty easy maintenance thing with little or no risk of bad consequences.

How about ATF? Many people have said Dexron causes honda trannys to make harsh shifts. Use Honda ATF.

I have been using Mobil1 synthetic.... The Honda is fine also, just need to get some at a good price.

Update...... After using Mobil1 Synthetic and after 261,000 miles, I took off each of the solenoids and there is not one single trace of anything caught in the screens. They were perfectly clean. Either it is the Mobil1, changing the fluid at 30k intervals, a wonderful Honda transmission, or some combination of all of the above.
